Groutville – Two pedestrians, a person who was reportedly on the verge of committing suicide and a passerby who intervened, were run over by a vehicle in KwaZulu-Natal.
The incident occurred on the N2 Southbound near Groutville.,
According to IPSS Medical Rescue, who attended the scene of the accident, one of the pedestrians had been planning to take their own life.
“Reports from scene indicate that one of the pedestrians was attempting to commit suicide, a passerby intervened in an attempt to prevent the suicide and both were struck by the vehicle,” IPSS wrote in a statement.

The advanced life support emergency medical service and rescue provider reported that one pedestrian died and the other was transported to a hospital.
“One pedestrian sustained fatal injuries, and was declared deceased on scene by medics. The second pedestrian, the passerby, was left in a critical condition, and was stabilised by IPSS Medical Rescue Advanced Life Support before being transported to hospital.”
South African Police Service (SAPS) are investigating the accident further.
