Durban — A man by the name of Sibusiso Lawrence, who confessed to killing his girlfriend in a video that trended on social media, was found dead on Wednesday morning after he hung himself from a tree in Malangeni, Umzinto.
In a statement, police revealed they responded to reports of a murder on a gravel road in Malangeni in Umzinto where they discovered the bloodied body of a 25-year-old woman who was lying in the middle of the road. She had several stab wounds and a knife was found next to her.
“Reports indicate that the suspect fetched the woman, who was his girlfriend, from her home and it is suspected that the two had a domestic-related altercation which escalated to the murder. The suspect’s vehicle was found abandoned down the road from where the woman’s body was found, and blood on the front passenger seat suggested that the suspect killed the woman inside his vehicle,” police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda said.

Police launched a swift manhunt and intense search by police led to the discovery of the suspect’s body hanging on a tree, which is believed to be suicide.
“Police are investigating a case of murder and an inquest docket will also be opened for further investigation,” Netshiunda added.
Shortly after his girlfriend’s death, Lawrence posted a video online where he admitted to killing his girlfriend, and revealed why he committed the atrocious act.
In the video, he says he has worked hard all his life to make a woman happy and gave her many things, including money. He claimed she dumped him as she was set to receive Road Accident Fund (RAF) money.
