Cape Town – A Durban man reportedly died after his car crashed through a boundary wall and fell into a residential swimming pool in Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal.
In a statement, Emer-G-Med paramedics said the incident took place just before 11:00 on Friday in Monmouth Road, Athlone Park.
On arrival, the paramedics found the car submerged in water and the driver was trapped in the vehicle.
“Paramedics found the occupant still entrapped in the wreckage and a call was made by the Emer-G-Med Emergency Operations Centre for the specialist assistance of the South African Police Services Search and Rescue Unit,” read the statement.
The victim was freed from the vehicle but declared dead by paramedics.
“He was assessed by Advanced Life Support paramedics From Emer-G-Med and revealed no signs of life and was declared dead on the scene,” said the statement.
The cause of the collision and the events preceding it remained unclear and police were investigating.
