Kwazulu-Natal – An alleged cable thief was killed after being electrocuted in Shastri Park, KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday afternoon.
Cable theft is not only a large problem for residents in South Africa, but it also proves to pose a significant danger to those who are committing the act of stealing cables.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa, a male was electrocuted while reportedly trying to steal cables from a light pole.
“A resident contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at approximately 22:19 requesting medical assistance for the male who was electrocuted while allegedly attempting to steal high voltage electricity cables from a light pole,” RUSA said.
“RUSA Members were immediately dispatched to the scene and on arrival discovered the unresponsive man laying on the ground.
“He showed no signs of life and was declared deceased.”
