Cape Town – A 32-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, 08 August 2024, by the Limpopo SAPS Provincial Anti-Smuggling Task Team for possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
The arrest followed a tip-off about a vehicle being smuggled to Zimbabwe through Beitbridge Port of Entry.
The task force acted swiftly upon receiving the information, intercepting a white Toyota Prado VX on the R37 road between Lebowakgomo and Polokwane.
The vehicle, reported stolen on Monday, 05 August 2024, from Villieria, Pretoria.
“The Police stopped the vehicle, and upon searching it, the driver, who is a South African, was unable to produce the valid documents of the vehicle.
“He was apprehended on the spot for possession of presumed stolen motor vehicle. The Police established that the vehicle, a white Toyota Prado, is at a value of R900 000,” a statement said.
Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe praised the team for their quick response and ongoing commitment to recovering stolen vehicles.
The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Thabamoopo Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 12 August 2024.
