Cape Town – A 44-year-old man is set to appear in court in Limpopo after being arrested for possession of a stolen Toyota Fortuner.
Police were alerted about the stolen vehicle travelling along the R101 Road in Gauteng, destined for smuggling out of South Africa.
Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, the provincial police spokesperson in Limpopo, said that the sought-after sports utility vehicle was intended for smuggling out of South Africa via the Beitbridge port of entry.

“A joint operation was executed and a motor vehicle fitting the description was positively spotted driving at a high speed while passing Shell Ultra City filling station outside Polokwane.
“A car chase ensued between the suspect and operational teams until he (the motorist) was compelled to stop next to Polokwane traffic weighbridge,” Mashaba said.
The Toyota Fortuner’s driver was subsequently apprehended at the scene.
The vehicle, valued at R900 000, was reported stolen in Springs, Gauteng.
