Cape Town – A 71-year-old pensioner from Limpopo handed himself over to the Lulekani police station after he stabbed his 45-year-old wife to death on Tuesday.
In a statement, Limpopo police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Mamphaswa Seabi said that the police received a call about the incident around 12:00 and swiftly responded.
“Upon arrival at the scene, they found the deceased who had suffered multiple stab wounds inside the house. She was identified as Patricia Ngobeni. A sharp object believed to be the weapon that was used to commit the murder was found on the scene,” said Seabi.
The man later handed himself in.
“The motive for the murder is not clear at this stage however, domestic violence cannot be ruled out,” Seabi said.
The man was scheduled to appear before the Lulekani Magistrate’s Court on charges of murder.
