Cape Town – Mpumalanga police arrested a 42-year-old woman on Sunday after she allegedly stabbed her neighbour to death.
According to a police statement, the incident occurred around 20:30 on the day at Kwazanele Township in Breyten.
It is said that the 47-year-old deceased went to fetch his wife from his neighbour’s house where he found her drinking with two men and a woman.
He demanded that his wife return home with him but she reportedly refused.
“A quarrel is said to have ensued between the man and the four. During the scuffle, the deceased reportedly took out a knife and one of the men present attempted to diffuse the situation but he was stabbed in his hand. He reportedly sustained minor injuries. The female neighbour is said to have then grabbed the knife from the man’s hand(s) and allegedly stabbed him several times on his upper body,” police said.
Whilst still bleeding, the man left his neighbour’s house and went back to his house.
His friend discovered him the next morning around 06:30, lying in a pool of blood at the back of his yard.
Police and medical personnel were notified, and upon their arrival, the man had succumbed to the knife wounds.
He was certified dead.
“The woman who allegedly stabbed him was also present and she reportedly handed herself to the police who immediately arrested her.
“A murder case was opened accordingly by the police at Breyten” said the police.
The woman is expected to appear at the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on charges of murder.
