Cape Town – A 40-year-old man reportedly hanged himself after allegedly killing his daughter, 2, and attempting to murder the other one, 7, at Moleketla village under Limpopo’s Bolobedu policing area.
According to The Citizen, the incident happened on April 15.
Police said that the deceased, who was staying with the two daughters while their mother was in Gauteng, allegedly told the two children that he was going to kill them.
He strangled the 2-year-old toddler to death.
It, however, remained unclear how the 7-year-old managed to escape.
When police were called to intervene, they were stopped by community members with the 7-year-old daughter.
She had bloodstains.

“The child took the officials to the spot where the incident happened and on arrival, the police found the [other] child already dead from an apparent strangulation and the father hanging from a tree,” the report quoted the police as saying.
Cases of murder and attempted murder were opened, as the police continued to investigate.
This came a few weeks after the Bloemfontein High Court sentenced Gift Stander, 25, to life imprisonment for killing his 3-year-old son to spite the child’s mother, 20.
According to a police statement, the incident occurred on October 15, 2021.
“The accused arrived at his ex-girlfriend’s home to fetch their child for a visit. This was after the mother of his son made it clear to him that she was not interested in the relationship anymore.
“Gift left with the child and went to his home in Bloemside Phase 4 near Bloemfontein. He failed to bring the child back until Sunday, 17 October 2021, when the mother got worried and asked family members to accompany her to Gift’s home to fetch the child,” police said.
Upon their arrival, the mother made the painful discovery that the accused had strangled their child to death, wrapped him in plastic and hid his lifeless body under the bed.
