Cape Town – An undocumented foreign national who was found in possession of explosives was expected to appear at the Stilfontein Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The 38-year-old man was found in possession of 14 hand grenades in Klerksdorp, North West over the weekend.
Police spokesperson Colonel Adéle Myburgh said on Saturday morning, police received information about a man in possession of explosives in Extension 7 in Khuma location near Stilfontein.
“The officer found the suspect, 38, on the corner of Marumole and Lekoma streets and searched him. A total of 14 hand grenades (Mk2) were found in his possession,
“As a result, the suspect was immediately arrested for unlawfully being in possession of explosives, thus contravening section 128 of the Explosives Act,” Myburgh said.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect was an undocumented person and was, therefore, further charged with contravening the Immigration Act.
The suspect was expected to appear in the Stilfontein magistrate’s court on Monday and the investigation will be led by the Hawks, said Myburgh.
