Cape Town – Police in the Eastern Cape have arrested a 38-year-old man from Gqeberha for allegedly stabbing his elderly mother Ntombizana Frans, 64, to death on Thursday.
In a statement, police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu said that police responded to a complaint of domestic violence at a house in Bhabhatane Street in Walmer location at around 11:00.
“On arrival police found the son leaving the premises. He was instructed to open the locked door. The body of an elderly woman was found lying on the kitchen floor. She had multiple stab wounds to the body,” said Naidu.

Frans and her son lived together.
The reason for the attack was yet to be established. However, it was alleged that there were constant fights at the house but no cases were opened by both the mother and the son.
The 38-year-old was detained and charged with murder.
He was scheduled to appear in the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
