Cape Town – Dumisane Jan Mbokodo, 32, was reportedly sentenced to eight years in prison by the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Limpopo after he used forged documents to secure a R451 000 car loan.
The Citizen reported that Mbokodo applied for a vehicle finance loan online from First National Bank (FNB) through a Toyota dealership in Polokwane, Limpopo.
His application was successfully processed and approved, and the vehicle was delivered to him in Mpumalanga.

It was, however, later discovered that he had used fraudulent documents to apply for the vehicle finance loan after he failed to pay his first instalment.
Investigations led to his arrest and he was sentenced on Friday.
The vehicle is yet to be recovered, the report said.
Such incidents are not rare. News24 reported last year in October that Ali Ahmed Sabir, 45, appeared in the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court for allegedly defrauding car dealerships of more than R1.4 million.
It was reported at the time that Sabir fraudulently created false payslips under his company, Sabir Egalvally Investment CC, and applied for vehicle finance at three car dealerships in Pretoria.
