Cape Town – Siya Tshem, 26, of Kwanobuhle near Kariega, Eastern Cape reportedly died in a car accident shortly after murdering his 72-year-old mother, Nozipho Tshem with a hammer.
According to News24, Nozipho was sleeping in the living room of her late daughter’s house when her son entered the house in the early hours of Monday.
Shortly after he entered, there was an apparent altercation between them, resulting in Siya repeatedly hitting his mother with a hammer on the head.
Siya fled the scene as Nozipho succumbed to her injuries.

According to The Citizen, while still at Nozipho’s murder scene, police received a culpable homicide report around the same area of Kwanobuhle.
A VW polo driver had reported at the police station that he had hit someone with a car.
When the police attended to the accident scene, they found a man, who was later identified as Siya lying on the road.
He was dead.
The motive for the brutal attack and murder remained unknown.
The report said that the mother and her son lived in Cape Town and were in the Eastern Cape to attend the funeral of Nozipho’s daughter.
