Cape Town – The cross-examination of Lourentia Lombaard, the main state witness in the Joshlin Smith kidnapping and human trafficking trial, is currently taking place at the Western Cape High Court in Saldanha Bay on the Cape West Coast.
Last week, Lombaard testified that she saw Kelly taking a child, Joshlin, to a car. She also claimed to have overheard Kelly and Boeta discussing plans to sell the child and attempted to intervene, but was ignored.
Lombaard admitted to initially lying to police and expressed remorse, revealing she was under the influence of drugs when arrested.
During cross-examination, Judge Erasmus pointed out inconsistencies in her testimony.
New witness Colonel Morris is set to assess the authenticity of photos and videos related to the case.
Other witnesses, including Kelly’s sister and Paulina Tshosa, provided additional testimony, with the trial postponed until Monday.
