Cape Town – The police are investigating after a 35-year-old businessman, Adriano dos Santos, was fatally shot near Hazyview in Mpumalanga on Friday.
Dos Santos, hailing from Hoedspruit, was traveling in a white Toyota Fortuner with a driver to meet someone in Nelspruit.
While passing through Hazyview, the driver received a call, stopped at a nearby fuel station, and then stopped again a few metres down the roadside.
“It was during this time when a white Nissan NP 200 bakkie with two occupants emerged. The said bakkie was without number plates.

“One occupant from the bakkie is said to have disembarked and went straight to the businessman then allegedly shot him three times.
“Thereafter, the suspects fled the scene, leaving behind the victim bleeding profusely. There are no reports of injuries from the other person who was with the businessman at the time of the shooting incident,” police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said.
Tragically, Dos Santos was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other person travelling with him was unharmed.
