Cape Town – The founder of KwaSizabantu Mission Erlo Stegen has died at the age of 88, reports said on Tuesday.
Stegen, a lifelong missionary, had led the controversial mission station since its establishment in 1952.
He had been in poor health in recent years, News24 reported.
Erlo Stegen, who founded the incredible KwaSizabantu mission in the late 1960s, has completed this chapter of his book of life.

His death was confirmed by the mission, which referred to him as an “innovative and influential visionary,” though he remained a divisive figure throughout his life, the report said.
