Cape Town – Nkangala district municipality manager, Margeret Maggie Skosana, and her driver were reportedly released by their kidnappers after being abducted last week.
The two were found on Wednesday, October 26 just before midnight after they were reported kidnapped on October 20, police said.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Donal Mdhluli the two were allegedly being dumped by their assailants in the bushes near the N14 road in Diepsloot.
He said the driver, Gugu Mtsweni had been tied with ropes but managed to free herself to go seek help.
“A taxi driver saw her as she was looking for help. She related the story to the taxi driver who immediately informed the police. The police then went with them to the bushes where the municipal manager was found.”
They were taken to the hospital and later reunited with their families after the matter was reported to the police.
No suspects have been arrested, Mdhluli said.
The South African reported that Skhosana and Mtsweni were allegedly attacked at the municipality premises gate before they could enter.
The report alleged that the suspects were dressed in police uniforms and driving a white sedan.
Following a police investigation, Skhosana’s vehicle was found abandoned in Middelburg along with her wheelchair and other properties believed to be belonging to the victims, the report said.
