Cape Town – A woman who was allegedly abducted from her workplace in Parow Industria, Western Cape, has been reunited with her family after the police traced her and arrested five suspects.
The victim, a 31-year-old Welgemoed resident, was discovered at a residence in Mfuleni on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident took place on the evening of 2 June, when the woman left a family-owned business in Parow Industria.
After failing to return home, concerns were raised, prompting an intensive investigation by the Provincial Anti-kidnapping Task Team, police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa said.
“Her vehicle was later discovered abandoned at NY 99 in Gugulethu after she failed to return home from work,” he said.
She is currently undergoing a medical examination to determine her wellbeing.
The apprehended suspects, aged between 25 and 32, face a range of serious charges, including kidnapping, hijacking, human trafficking, and extortion.
They are expected to appear in court in due course.
