Cape Town – Biokineticist, Riana Pretorius, who was kidnapped outside a Newton Park medical practice in the Eastern Cape, has taken to social media to thank everyone for their support “during these hard times”.
This comes after the arrest of a second suspect who has been charged with kidnapping, reported IOL.
The report said Xolani Kafile, 40, will appear in court with the first accused on 5 April.
The 26-year-old was abducted two weeks ago when she arrived for work in the morning.
She was forced into a white Toyota Corolla by three armed men.
The Hawks confirmed that a R2 million ransom demand was later made for her safe return.
Pretorius was allegedly dropped off at a garage in Struandale after a week of negotiations with the alleged kidnappers, reported the HeraldLIVE.
She was unharmed.
It remained unclear if the ransom was paid.
“On my family’s behalf and mine, I would like to express our heartfelt thanks. We were and continue to be humbled by the support of our family and friends during these hard times.
“Thank you so much for everyone’s prayers and thoughts. It came just as we needed it most! It is the wonderful actions of others that keep us going most days. We just wanted to say THANK YOU in the biggest way.
“Our lives have been turned upside down, but we are getting back on track and looking forward to the future. The Lord has blessed us,” read her post.
News24 reported that the first suspect Xolisile Rawutini, 40, was arrested after he was found in the car allegedly used for the kidnapping.
