Cape Town – A 50-year-old woman kidnapped in Ga-Rankuwa on Tuesday was rescued by a multidisciplinary law enforcement team in Tshwane on Thursday.
Three suspects — two women and a man aged between 34 and 57 — were arrested for kidnapping and robbery, reports said.
The rescue operation involved police from Akasia and Ga-Rankuwa, along with crime intelligence, the Tshwane Flying Squad, a bank forensic team, and the Tshwane Metro Police K9 unit.
“The victim’s son reported her missing and it was later discovered that funds were withdrawn from the victim’s bank account.
“The police investigations led to two suspects at a house in Karen Park where the victim was also kept,” Pretoria Rekord quoted Captain Tintswalo Sibeko as saying.
He said that the woman received medical care after being rescued and was later reunited with her family.
According to TimesLIVE, a white Polo used in the kidnapping was recovered along with false registration plates, cellphones, cash, and bank cards. The victim received medical care before reuniting with her family.
The suspects will appear in the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate’s Court, and police investigations are ongoing.
