Cape Town – The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has recommended two candidates for appointment to the Supreme Court of Appeal in South Africa after conducting ten interviews over two days.
The recommended candidates are Judge Fayeeza Kathree-Setiloane from the Gauteng High Court and Judge Maleshane Kgoele from Mpumalanga.
“Following the Judicial Service Commission interviews for the Supreme Court of Appeal, the Commission has resolved to recommend the following candidates for appointment: Judge F Kathree-Setiloane Judge A M Kgoele,” the JSC said.

However, there are still two vacancies in the appellate court.
Judge Fayeeza Kathree-Setiloane, an experienced High Court Judge, had previously been considered for a position on the Constitutional Court but was not selected by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
In her latest appearance before the JSC, she conveyed that she had relinquished her aspirations for the highest court in the country. Instead, she expressed her desire to secure a permanent position in the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) after serving in acting roles there, EWN reported.
