Cape Town — Police Minister, Bheki Cele, revealed that the DNA samples found on the bloody clothing thought to be that of missing six-year-old, Joshlin Smith, came back negative, as the search for her continues.
Cele said that there were “no new leaks” in the case to find Joshlin, who has now been missing for over 40 days. As of yet, only four suspects remain behind bars, including Joshlin’s mother, Kelly Smith. Shortly after Joshlin’s disappearance, police found bloodied clothes thought to belong to the young girl, but Cele confirmed the negative results, IOL reported.
“Unfortunately the DNA on the pieces of clothes that were found didn’t indicate that those clothes belong to Joshlin. When it came back from the laboratory it came back negative,” he said.

According to The Citizen, the search for Joshlin has now ventured beyond South African borders, as the South African Police Services (SAPS) are working closely with Interpol and other “sister organisations”. He revealed a search was conducted on a ship in London in the hopes of finding Joshlin.
“A week ago, a ship was searched in London because there was information indicating she could have been in that one. It took about two-and-a-half days for the ship to be searched. She could not be found there. The case back home in Saldanha is continuing and those people [the accused] have not told us exactly where we would find Joshlin.” he said.
