Cape Town – Israel has recalled its ambassador to South Africa Eliav Belotserkovsky for consultations in response to statements from South Africa.
This was said by Israel’s foreign ministry said on Monday.
On Thursday last week, the ANC expressed support for a parliamentary motion calling for the closure of the Israeli embassy in the country.
According to Times Live, the ANC argued that the Israeli government’s actions towards Palestinians in Gaza are “genocidal”.

The motion called for the recognition that peace in the Middle East was hindered as long as Palestinian land was occupied and condemned the killing of civilians, especially women and children, in Gaza.
The ongoing conflict in Gaza has, according to the Hamas-led health ministry, has killed 12 000 people. Thousands have been injured, while millions have been displaced.
