Cape Town – A Cape Town father and his 2-year-old toddler died hours apart after they were involved in a collision with a truck on the M3 near Tokai on Friday.
The baby, Felix Olivier, died at Red Cross Children’s Hospital at around 20:00. This was hours after the accident claimed the life of her father Jaendré, 39.
Jaendré died on the scene.
According to IOL, Dominique said that after the accident, a good Samaritan found Felix still strapped in her car seat, on the side of the road and rushed her to the hospital.
“That person put her in his car and rushed her to the hospital … if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t have been able to say goodbye.
“In my last words to her, I just said ‘go to papa’,” the report quoted a weeping Dominique as saying.
People’s Post reported that the accident occurred during Friday, peak-hour traffic.
According to the City, a truck with a trailer was travelling on the M3 outbound when its tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control and move into the M3 inbound, colliding with three cars, the report said.
Two other men were left slightly injured.
