Cape Town – An 8-year-old boy who was seen driving an SUV in a residential area in Vereeniging, Gauteng, has reportedly apologised, saying that he was sorry for “what I did”.
A video of the boy driving around was shared widely on social media, raising calls for concern.
In his apology, the boy said that he had taken the car to visit his friend without his parents’ knowledge or permission, IOL reported
“I’m sorry for what I did. My mother was cooking and my father was in the bathroom, (when) I took the key and ran away,” the report quoted the boy as saying.

In the video, the boy was stopped by a group of people who ask him a few questions before a concerned senior man instructed the boy to take him to his father.
“This is ridiculous,” said the old man.
The elderly man got into his own car and the child started the engine and sped off. As he drove away, gasps could be heard at the fast pull-away.
