Cape Town – Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) founder Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi has been discharged from hospital, his family said on Wednesday.
Buthelezi was admitted to hospital last week for medical tests after suffering from high blood pressure.
The family confirmed in a statement that Buthelezi has been given a “clean bill of health” and is back home.
They took the opportunity to thank the public for its support.
“We as the family of HRH Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi wish to thank the many friends and supporters who expressed good wishes for the speedy recovery of uMntwana waKwaPhindangene.

“We are pleased to report that following a brief period of recuperation and testing, he has been given a clean bill of health and was discharged from hospital yesterday,” the family said.
The family also confirmed that the 93-year-old will attend the opening of parliament and is preparing for the State of the Nation debate (SONA), which will take place next week on Thursday.
“It is good to have him back home at KwaPhindangene where he is preparing for the upcoming opening of Parliament and State of the Nation debate,” the family further said.
