Cape Town – The National Prosecuting Authority’s Investigating Directorate (ID) has reortedly refused to comment on reports suggesting the imminent arrest of ANC chairperson Gwede Mantashe regarding alleged Bosasa-funded security upgrades at his properties.
According to The Citizen, a Sunday publication reorted that law enforcement agencies were reportedly preparing to arrest Mantashe soon.
However, spokesperson Henry Mamothame of the Investigating Directorate refuted the claims.
“The ID does not comment on its investigations, and it is important that a misstatement attributed to its office must be corrected. the ID has not decided nor discussed the imminent arrest of Mr Mantashe,” EWN quoted Mamothame as saying.
Mantashe, implicated by the State Capture Commission for receiving free security installations from Bosasa, disputes any wrongdoing and has challenged the commission’s findings in court, arguing they exceeded their mandate.
