Cape Town – Chandra Smith, 25, who was shot in the neck in the parking lot of The Pearls Mall in uMhlanga, Durban last week is reportedly recovering at home after a short stay in hospital.
In a viral video Smith was seen being shot in the neck during an alleged argument in the early hours of Sunday.
Times Live reported that CCTV footage showed a white VW Golf with occupants in the parking lot near the boom gates.
A man and a woman could be seen standing outside the vehicle – the man was at the driver’s window and the woman was leaning on the back door on the driver’s side.
The victim stuck her head into the car and the man moved towards her, and that was when a shotwass fired. She immediately fell to the ground and the man started throwing his hands, as if in disbelief of what has transpired.
The woman then got up quickly and ran away, disappearing out of the camera angle.
The driver of the car then drove off.
According to IOL, Smith ran to where her husband, Ramon Smith, was.

“I believe it was God that saved me. As I was running toward my husband, I was praying and asking God for help and to give me a second chance. This incident has shown me that I serve an amazing God. While in hospital, He healed me. I was discharged on the same afternoon. Even today, I am not in pain but I am recovering well, the report quoted Smith as saying.
Smith said that she was out with her husband when she met the woman who she knew in the parking lot. she stopped to talk to her and suddenly she heard a bang and felt excruciating pain in her neck – that’s when she realised that she had been shot.
Smith said that she was shot by the man who was with the woman she knew. However, she didn’t know the man.
“I have no idea who he is. I also did not know the man in the white T-shirt. I only knew the woman. We were not fighting. I was just talking to her. There was no need to shoot me. He is trigger-happy and needs to be behind bars before he hurts anyone else. This is woman abuse,” said Smith as quoted by the report.
The alleged shooter was arrested and charged with attempted murder. He was due to appear in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court on Monday but the matter was not enrolled in court due to further police investigations, the report said.
