Cape Town – A Mossel Bay family is still in shock after their daughter was reportedly attacked and killed at her workplace on Monday.
Kirsty James, 27, a mother of one, was stabbed multiple times and succumbed to her injuries on her way to hospital, reports said.
The deceased’s 32-year-old close friend who is also known to the family of the victim, was arrested and charged with murder, reported News24.
According to the victim’s mother, Marion Bruinders, her daughter and the suspect had a disagreement weeks before the tragic incident, the report said.
The report said that Bruinders had rushed to the scene after the incident and allegedly approached the suspect, however, she showed no remorse.
“I asked why she [allegedly] killed Kirsty and all she could tell me was ‘go ask your daughter’. I was actually very disappointed in her response because the woman I saw on Monday was not the woman I knew back then when she would come to my house,” the report quoted Bruinders as saying.
She added: “I miss my child already. She was a beautiful soft spoken and very kind woman… Kirsty was loved by many because of the kind-natured person she was. My last few minutes with her before she passed on will forever be with me.”
Kirsty’s close friends said they were still shocked by the incident and described Kirsty as a soft spoken and kind person who loved makeup.
“She was a very soft-spoken person with a beautiful smile. I was in pure shock when I learned that she is no more with us. She will be missed so much by many,” the report quoted Johannes Manewil.
According to Warrant Officer Pieter Koekemoer, Kirsty was stabbed multiple times, adding that the blade of the knife broke off in her body during the attack, reported Algoa FM.
The report said that the victim died on the way to hospital while the suspect sustained a cut to her hand during the attack.
She remained in hospital under police guard until she appeared at Mossel Bay Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
Circumstances surrounding the murder were still unknown, the report said.
The matter was postponed to October 31 for a formal bail application, EWN reported.
Meanwhile, condolence messages continued to pour in following her death.
