Cape Town – South African author and activist Zoleka Mandela has taken to social media to give an update on her health after going for a computerised tomography (CT) scan to determine whether she has cancer in the remaining parts of her body.
Taking to her Instagram timeline on Tuesday, Zoleka revealed that yesterday (Monday) marked her official diagnosis.
“Yesterday (29.08.2022) marked my official diagnosis, the CT scan has revealed cancer both in my liver and lungs. I am yet to receive feedback regarding my Bone scan, to establish whether I have cancer beyond my ribs. I am hanging on by a thread. Thanking you all for your outpouring of love, prayer and support. Last week, the author, who is also the late Nelson Mandela’s granddaughter, expressed her fears after she visited her doctor who revealed to her that she had a “pathological fracture and swelling caused by cancer“.
She was then scheduled for a CT and bone scan to determine whether she has cancer in the remaining parts of her body.
She visited the doctor after having a sore back.
Zoleka has in the past documented her 10-year breast cancer journey in an autobiography, When Hope Whispers.
