Cape Town – A shocking incident of domestic violence occurred early on Tuesday morning, August 6, 2024, in Kabokweni, just outside White River, Mpumalanga, resulting in the deaths of a man and his wife.
According to preliminary reports, the man fatally shot his wife before turning the gun on himself.
Police and emergency services were dispatched to the scene, where they found both individuals deceased.
Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, the Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Mpumalanga, expressed his sadness over the incident.

“We are deeply saddened by the report of this tragic incident,” Mkhwanazi said.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones affected by this heartbreaking incident. Domestic violence is an issue that affects individuals and communities globally, and we urge anyone who may be experiencing or aware of domestic violence to seek help.”
The incident occurred during Women’s Month, highlighting the pressing issue of gender-based violence (GBV) in the region.
