Cape Town – A Durban homeowner thwarted an armed intruder by pouring boiling water on him after finding him in her kitchen.
The man had broken into the house through the kitchen door and was carrying a knife.
In self-defence, the homeowner poured boiling water on the intruder while screaming for help.
“The victim poured boiling water over the suspect as she screamed for help. The suspect ran to the front lawn, writhing in agony, and died of his injuries a short while afterward,” police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda said.
The incident is being investigated by Berea police as an attempted robbery and an inquest.
