Nelspruit — A homeless man was shot and killed after requesting a pizza in White River, Mpumalanga on Saturday.
According to police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, police heard a gunshot and went to investigate. The officers found a group of people surrounding a lifeless body on the road.
“They discovered that he was shot on the chest and hand by a 39-year-old man who was also on the scene, Mohlala said.

“It is said that the victim allegedly asked for a pizza from the suspect who refused to give him. Then the victim assaulted the suspect with a chain. It is further alleged that the suspect drew his firearm and shot him. The victim is estimated to be in his late 40s.”
Mohlala said that the victim was reported dead on the scene despite the efforts of medical personnel.
The suspect was arrested and charged with murder.
The firearm as well as his firearm licence were confiscated for further investigation, Mohlala said.
