Cape Town – The mother of six-year-old Khayalethu Magadla, who fell into an uncovered manhole in Dlamini, Soweto on June 12 while playing with friends, has described how her son used to love cake and jumping.
According to Times Live, Smangele Magadla spoke during a memorial service for Khayalethu that took place in Soweto on Friday.
“Our hearts are in pain.
“He has left us still young. His disappearance into the hole shocked us. He loved to jump, he would jump to poles and go up,” the report quoted the mother as saying.

EWN reported that the memorial service took place at the very park – just a stone’s throw away from his home.
Surrounded by family, friends and community members, Khayalethu’s parents and grandparents took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the manhole that led to his demise, the report said.
Khayalethu’s body was found in a split chamber near the Eldorado Park Cemetery on Saturday, three weeks after he went missing.
