Cape Town – Two supposed hikers were caught in Kakamas, Northern Cape, on Saturday with two large bags containing 47kg of skunk dagga, a potent strain of cannabis.
The confiscated drugs were estimated to be worth R1.1 million.
Acting on a tip-off, Sergeant Kallie Kalamore and Constable KG Mkhafu conducted a search and discovered the bags filled with the illegal substance, police spokesperson Captain Nelis Prins said.
“The bags of the two male persons were searched and skunk dagga packed in bags were found.

“The weight of the dagga is 47kg with an estimated street value of 1, 1 million rand,” said Prins.
The suspects, aged between 25 and 35, were arrested and will face charges related to the distribution of dagga.
