Cape Town – The South African Weather Service (Saws) has issued a heatwave warning for the northern parts of the Eastern Cape from January 1 to 4, with persistently high temperatures expected.
Additionally, a yellow level 2 warning was issued for disruptive rain on January 1, impacting Gauteng, parts of Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, Free State, and KwaZulu-Natal.

The disruptive rain could lead to localised flooding in settlements, roads, low-lying areas, and bridges, Saws said.
Driving conditions may become hazardous due to poor visibility and slippery roads, and essential services such as electricity could face temporary disruptions. Mud-built houses are also at risk of localised damage.
Saws forecasts isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers for central and eastern areas on January 2, with wet weather persisting until Saturday, extending to the south coast of the Western Cape.
