Cape Town – Humanitarian organisation, Gift of the Givers, has announced the death of Ahmed Abbasi, its head in Gaza and a father of three.
Abbasi, described as a kind and warm individual, was reportedly killed by Israeli forces while returning from morning prayer with his brother.
“He was responsible for implementing multiple projects including the care of orphans, widows, the elderly and the ill. He delivered water through our desalination plants, distributed food parcels, provided hot meals and upgraded damaged homes,” Times Live quoted the organisation as saying.

The founder of Gift of the Givers Imtiaaz Sooliman said that Ahmed Abbasi, a father of three, had been dedicated to serving the people of Gaza since 2013 when he assumed the role of head of the humanitarian foundation in the region.
“He was our office head for 10 years, responsible for implementing multiple projects including the care of orphans, widows, the elderly and the ill. He delivered water through our desalination plants, distributed food parcels, provided hot meals and upgraded damaged homes,” Sooliman said.
The conflict between Israel and Hamas has escalated, with Israel retaliating for an attack by Hamas on its citizens on October 7.
