South Africans are on high alert when it comes to pit bulls after a spate of deadly attacks with children being on the receiving end of it.
Last month, a 15-month-old toddler was mauled to death by a pit bull on Wednesday, November 23 at Gonubie Farm in East London, police confirmed in a statement.
According to police spokesperson Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana, reports suggested that the boy was playing with the neighbour’s pit bull at the farm.
A passer-by walked past the proximity of the yard with a dog and was seen by the pit bull. It was further alleged that the pit bull attempted to escape the yard while barking at the passing dog.
