Cape Town – Hawks reportedly arrested a wanted Irish woman after the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) issued a warrant for her arrest.
Ruth Lawrence who was wanted in Ireland in connection with the murder of two people was arrested on Tuesday in Bloemfontein in the suburbs of Pellissier, reports said.
According to Hawks spokesperson, Captain Christopher Singo, they received information that Lawrence was in Bloemfontein on Wednesday, September 28, reported IOL.
“Her arrest comes after Interpol issued a warrant of arrest against her regarding the murder of Eoin O’ Connor, 32, and Anthony Keegan, 33, who were found murdered in Ireland in 2014. After the murder of the deceased persons, the suspect then fled the country,” the report quoted Singo as saying.

The report alleged that the 37-year-old woman originally from Clontarf in north Dublin came to South Africa with her then-boyfriend, Neville Peter van der Westhuizen in 2014.
According to The Irish Sun, Westhuizen was serving a sentence in SA prison for murder and was also wanted for the murder of O’Connor and Keegan in Ireland.
O’Connor and Keegan were found together, wrapped in plastic sheeting and buried in a shallow grave on Inchicup Island, Lough Sheelin, the report said.
The report said Westhuizen fled the country after being identified as the chief suspect and had spent time in the UK and Nigeria before fleeing to South Africa.
