“On Saturday 12 November 2022, the 11-year-old girl and her grandmother went to the police station to report an alleged rape by her grandfather, who allegedly raped her several times while her grandmother was away.
“It’s further alleged that he threatened to kill her if she spilled the beans with regard to the incident. The victim claimed further that the reason she did not tell her grandmother about the incident was because her grandfather threatened to kill her if she didn’t keep quiet about the matter,” Mophiring said in a statement.
The suspect was arrested and charged by the Phuthaditjhaba Family, Child Protection, and Sexual Offenses Unit, and is expected to appear before the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate court facing a charge of rape.
