Cape Town – Five people, including a nine-year-old girl died following two shooting incidents in Durban on Tuesday.
According to Emer-G-Med, two men were found with multiple gunshot wounds at Carters Avenue in Berea area around noon.
One person was declared dead on the arrival of the paramedics, while the other was in a critical condition, said Emer-G-Med.
Advanced life support resuscitation efforts were attempted but the man succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead on the scene.
“The facts surrounding the incident are unclear and will form the subject of a South African Police Service investigation,” Emer-G-Med said.

On the same day, Emer-G-Med and Netcare911 responded to another shooting incident on Peters Road in Springfield Park.
On arrival at the scene, paramedics found a Volkswagen Amarok to have been sprayed with “high-calibre bullets”, said Emer-G-Med.
Two occupants in the front of the vehicle, an adult male and female, were declared dead at the scene.
“A nine-year-old female who was seated in the back of the vehicle was found in a critical condition.
“Advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilise her and due to her extensive injuries, she went into a state of cardiac arrest. CPR efforts were successful and she was rushed by ambulance,” said Emer-G-Med.
Unfortunately, the girl died shortly after arrival at hospital.
Details surrounding the shooting remained unclear but will form part of a police investigation.
