Mpumalanga – Two suspects – Cebo Marshall Mamba (38) and Bongimusa Fortune Lebo Matsane (25) appeared in the Kabokweni District’s Court on Monday in connection with the murder of a German tourist that took place last month.
The tourist was shot and killed by a group of “ruthless criminals” at Numbi Road near White River.
According to police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, two suspects appeared in court, and not three as previously indicated.
“The matter was enrolled then postponed to 28 November 2022 for instructions to their attorney. The two were remanded in custody,” Mohlala said.
South African Minister of Tourism, Lindiwe Sisulu, said in a media briefing last month that the killing of the German tourist by a group of “ruthless criminals” at Numbi Road near White River on Monday was a “calculated killing”.
Sisulu spent the entire day with the tourism board and the deceased’s family in order to obtain all of the information with regard to what happened.
“We needed to attend to it to make sure it never happens in our land again,” said Sisulu.
