Cape Town – Parts of Gauteng experienced power outages due to a major shutdown at seven Eskom substations on Monday.
The outage affected various areas supplied by Eskom in the province, including Centurion, Krugersdorp, Muldersdrift, Roodepoort, and Lanseria.
The cause of the outage was a trip on the 88kV power line serving the affected substations.

Eskom said that they are working on restoring supply, but the estimated time for restoration is currently unknown. The shutdown began around 20:00.
“The outage is due to a trip on the 88kV power line supplying the affected substations. The estimated time of restoration is not [yet] available,” Eskom said.
It added: “We are on site working on restoring supply. We apologise for the inconvenience this causes.”
