Cape Town – Gauteng residents have been warned to prepare for severe thunderstorms on Wednesday, 23 April 2025, as many return from the Easter break.
The South African Weather Service (Saws) predicts heavy downpours, potential flooding, and damaging hail in parts of the province, particularly central and southern areas.
“Alert: The SA Weather Service has issued a warning for the possibility of severe thunderstorms in central and Southern Gauteng on Wednesday,” Gauteng Weather said.

A cut-off low (COL) system will affect the western interior, moving eastward and bringing scattered to widespread showers and thundershowers, especially in the central and eastern regions, where rainfall may exceed 50mm the South African Weather Services (Saws) said.
