Cape Town — Diesel users whether they’re driving diesel cars or running generators to combat load shedding can expect some relief as prices for it could come down between 26 cents and 51 cents per litre.
eNCA reports that The Bureau for Economic Research’s Hugo Pienaar said that the performance of the rand over the last few weeks as well as international diesel prices coming down have contributed to the decrease in diesel prices.
“The rand is a bit stronger in the last couple of weeks but I think the main impact or reason for this is most likely that international diesel prices have come down over the past month, relative to the previous month,” Pienaar said.
Despite the good news for diesel users, the petrol price is expected to increase by more than 60 cents per litre.
BusinessTech reports that the Central Energy Fund’s latest data shows that petrol prices are showing a crucial under-recovery of around 60-65 cents per litre.
This is mostly due to continual high international product prices for petroleum, driven by the higher oil price.
