Cape Town – Springboks legend Bryan Habana’s father Bernard James Habana was reportedly arrested for fraud on Monday.
According to The Citizen, he was implicated in police investigations for allegedly pretending to be a travel agent.
Police have been investigating Bernard’s fraud charges for nearly five years, after a woman filed a complaint in 2015, alleging that she deposited R12 000 into an account allegedly owned by Bernard and his girlfriend, Mbali Mtetwa, the report said.
Bernard appeared before the Randburg Magistrates’ Court.

He was granted R1 000 bail and the case was postponed to a later date.
IOL reported that this was not Bernard’s first run-in with the law.
In 2015, he was arrested on suspicion of defrauding a Joburg hotel by failing to pay the bill, the report said.
Bernard’s relationship with Bryan soured in 2010 when Bryan fired his father after discovering that he was stealing from him.
