Cape Town – The former leader of a Capetonian gang known as ‘Americans’, Kaldimola ‘Dimes’ Madatt, fell victim to an alleged gang hit, dying after he was reportedly shot 11 times.
Madatt’s bodyguard was reported to be wounded after the shooting.
According to Daily Voice, Madatt died at the scene of the shooting, in Mitchells Plain, after an estimated seven shooters pulled up in a white Toyota Etios and a red pickup truck, and opened fire on him and his bodyguard.
After surviving the incident, the bodyguard was taken away by a member of the anti-gang unit.
Residents were anxious as they expected retaliation, the report said.

Daily Maverick reported that Roegchanda Pascoe, an anti-crime activist in Cape Town, alleged that the hit carried out on Madatt may have been an inside job.
“Reliable information we received is that Americans gang members from Manenberg and Hanover Park are in Rocklands. They are looking for the gunmen.
“The murder of Dimes comes at the time when our children are writing exams. I feel sorry for the people and learners in Rocklands. What activists have seen in the past in similar hits is that it is all war out in that specific area. Our fear is that learners or innocent mothers could be killed or wounded during the gun battles,” Pascoe was quoted as saying.
