Cape Town – A former policewoman has reportedly been sentenced to life imprisonment following the murder of her boyfriend’s wife.
Retired officer, Nomvula Zondwa, reportedly hired hitmen to kill her boyfriend’s wife and paid them R73 000.
The 57-year-old former cop and four other accused were sentenced in the Eastern Cape High Court on two counts of murder, reported IOL.
The accused were Thamsanqa Hlamandana, 32, a traditional healer, and three hitmen Lwando Lengesi, 32, Ayabulela Mahokoto, 27, and Nkosinathi Junior George, 24.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Luxolo Tyali, Zondwa was in a long-term relationship with Mandla Toba who had married Cingiswa Mila while still in a relationship with Zondwa, according to evidence presented in court.

“She (Zondwa) conspired with the sangoma to organise hitmen to kill the newly wedded wife and they all discussed the murder over a period and agreed to participate in it,” the report quoted Tyali as saying.
He said on April 11, 2020, the three hitmen travelled to the Toba family home in Celetyima Village and killed Milla and her mother-in-law.
“They subdued the two women, tied them up and stabbed them repeatedly,” Tyali said.
All five accused were arrested following a police investigation. The court agreed with the state that all the accused played an equal role in the murder of the two victims.
The three hitmen were sentenced to an additional 22 years term.
