Cape Town — Former Se’skhona People’s Movement leader and ANC Youth League member Loyiso Nkohla was fatally shot at a satellite police station near the Philippi Railway Station on Monday morning.
According to The Citizen, reports suggest that Nkohla was addressing a meeting in Philippi when he was shot dead.
Meanwhile, News24 reported that police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi said the circumstances of the shooting are being investigated, adding that three people had also been injured.
“The victim was declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel. Reports suggested that two females and one male who also sustained injuries were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment with private transport,” Swartbooi was quoted as saying.

IOL reports that the ANC’s provincial spokesperson, Sifiso Mtsweni, expressed shock and sadness at Nkohla’s sudden death.
“At the time of death he was not a member of the ANC; however, like any member of society, to die in such a gruesome manner is completely unacceptable, we are shocked and saddened. We hope that the people who did this heinous act get arrested quickly and sentenced speedily. We express our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.”
