Cape Town – An elephant died and five people were injured following a freak accident near Gravelotte, Limpopo on Wednesday.
According to ER24 who responded to the incident, the accident occurred on R71 road on Wednesday night.
ER24 said that two vehicles — a white Toyota Hilux and a police van — collided with the elephant.
On arrival at the scene, the elephant was found lying on the road.
“Two bakkies were found a short distance away, roughly 50m apart. On closer assessment, medics found that four men and a woman had sustained minor to moderate injuries.

“The patients were treated and later transported to nearby hospitals, including Mediclinic Tzaneen, for further care. Unfortunately, the elephant succumbed to its injuries.” said ER24.
Limpopo transport and community safety department spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene confirmed the incident, reported TimesLIVE.
He said speeding may be the possible cause of the accident, adding that no fatalities were reported.
